The monumental tombs of the sultan and his wife, Hurrem Sultan are in the graveyard to the south east of the Mosque. Among other religious constructions in Istanbul, the Suleymaniye Mosque clearly stands out as a unique example of classical Ottoman architecture with perfectly intergrated sections beatiful stained glas windows and the extraordinary harmony of the structural elements.Suleymaniye Mosque construction took 7 years.
